How do I determine the best list price?

Pricing tickets can be the hardest part of selling tickets, since there’s no single strategy that works from game to game, team to team, or even season to season. Further, prices are always changing based on market conditions and demand. With this in mind, here are a few tips for determining the best list price for your tickets.

  • Research comparable prices on resale sites. If you’ve sold tickets before, you’re likely already familiar with this. FlipSeats makes it just a bit easier by providing a direct link to your event right within the ticket listing workflow so you can quickly research comparable prices. Click “Get Pricing Insights” under the list price to go to your event on Ticketmaster or Vivid Seats. Don’t just look in your section—also check out nearby sections or sections opposite yours in the stadium. Anything that has a similar proximity to the action will likely demand a similar price. To help ensure your tickets sell, consider pricing your tickets slightly lower than the average list prices that you’re seeing in your research.
  • Re-evaluate your ticket price if it’s not selling. It’s good practice to monitor your price at least once a week, and daily leading up to the game. Often, ticket prices start to drop as a game nears, so if you aren’t adjusting accordingly, you may price yourself out of a sale. If you’d prefer a more hands off approach, try our Pro Pricing feature. Pro Pricing does all the repricing for you to help you get the best price for your tickets while remaining competitive with the marketplace.
  • Don’t let your tickets go to waste. Sometimes you may need to set your list price to less than face value. You’ll have to decide if this is something you are ok with, or if you’d rather go to the game or gift them to a friend or colleague. Something is better than nothing—even if it means getting a little less than you originally paid.
